Getting here
Nelson sits at the end of the Great Ocean Road, 5 hours from Melbourne, 5 hours from Adelaide, 30 minutes from Mount Gambier and 1 hour from Portland.
Where to park
Free sealed parking is available adjacent to the Cruise Terminal at 65 Old Bridge Road. Double-length bays for caravans and long vehicles, and public toilets are on-site. Allow 15 minutes to park, check in and board.
What to bring
Hat, sunscreen, a warm layer (the river runs cool), and comfortable walking shoes for boarding the jetty. Cameras and binoculars highly recommended.
While you're here
Nelson has a pub, a general store and a handful of cafés. The town is small — book accommodation ahead in peak season.
